She acknowledges that the 'male gaze' is an important technique used in music videos and marketing in order to entice and make males active in watching females in videos or advertisements as sexual and provocative. she says this is done through the process of dismembering which draws the male attention to certain body parts in order to please the male gaze. Dismemberment is used frequently in music video genres such as Hip-Hop, R&B and Rap.
