This Music Video from last year’s media students is a very well done video that uses technical aspects of filming, editing and sound to great effect. One of the main conventions of music videos is that they are edited fast with quick cuts and jump cuts, and this music video has that in abundance. One thing that I noticed very clearly is how everything happened to the beat of the song. This is useful when it comes to editing as cutting to the beat and transitioning to the beat allows for a good flowing visual, that then makes the whole viewing experience even better.
This group clearly put alot of effort into planning for the video.
It’s clear they thought alot about Mise en scene as it fits well with the lyrics and look of the video, it looks like a music video and not something shot by college students. The video also used disjuncture with lots of shots and scenes that do not really mean anything by the song but are there as just visual spectacles for example the belly dancers.
