Digipak & Analysis : LOOK BACK ON AS

After the AS exams had been completed I came back for three more weeks of to do A2 Media preparation lessons. In these lessons we found out what was needed of us in terms of skill, knowledge and hard work to succeed in A2. To succeed in A2 there are some important things I needed to grasp and get to grips with very quick such as using Photoshop.

During the lessons we practiced making ‘Digipaks’, as it would be one of our ancillary works for A2. In the lessons I learnt how to layer images on top of others to create customised images that I needed to make in order to create my design for my Digipak. These first few baby steps into Photoshop are extremely important as they are the basic foundations I need to use the software, and I can only improve from this point on.

I used the song ‘Down’ by Jay Sean as the theme behind my practice Digipak. The song used the word down heavily and so I used arrows going down to somewhat illustrate the name and theme of the song. The back shows the track listing and the background is black with the front covers background being white, I felt this was a nice contrast to show, highlight and distinguish between front cover and back cover. Also I looked at the conventions of good Digipaks, what I noticed was that they all used logos to show the record label on the back and also on the binding of the CD the artists name, song name and record label again are shown.
