New Skills Learnt From Lip Sync Tutorial Class

In this lesson we had a tutorial on the best ways to create a effective and seamless looking synchronisation between the movement of the mouth and the sounds that should be coming out. I learnt two main things from this tutorial one of which is cutting to the beat and the other is the importance of having base tracks.

Cutting shots to the beats allows for a flowing looking transition between shots, it feels like a natural change as its moving with the beat.  Also cutting to the beat makes it easier to edit because we can build up a structure that works well for the video, that doesn’t look out of sync and all over the place but rather looks more thought out and intentional.

Base tracks are extremely important. Having a good number of base tracks allows for us to cut between different angles, locations and even personal and yet still keep good flowing continuity in terms of lip syncing. Also they are important in music videos more so as music videos need to be dynamic with lots of different shots and edits, having base tracks lets you do that effectively.
