summerise what you have learnt about the state of the music industry

What I have learnt about the music industry is that they have continuous change, over the  years we have come across massive changes towards the music industry all thanks to technology. For example when I was a child , there was cassette tapes , this was the way music was distributed, then came CDs and now the most popular ways to get music is through illegal downloading. This has caused a lot of trouble for the artists and their producers, mainly because less people are settling for CDs when they can get their hand on illegal downloading. However not only have the artist suffered it has all gone in a cycle as HMV and other music distributers have suffered majorly.
These are the three main areas that have changed
Production, this is where artists years back would have to go to a studio or get a funding from a record company to make their music, however as I said before thanks to technology this has allowed many people to make and record music them self for example the underground rappers, most of them do not get a hold of studios or have their self a record label, instead their doing it all by their self.   Then comes Distribution, back in the day artist would distribute mainly through radios to get their self noticed as well as doing gigs   and posters to get them advertised or on buses. But now artists use social networking sites, like twitter, facebook, YouTube. The last one is exchange, like I have mentioned it was through cassets and CDs, now there’s the biggest downloading site iTunes.
Because of the illegal downloading, this has caused artists a fall in their profit, so in which the turn that they have made is by appearing in more gigs and concerts and going on YouTube and advertising them self much more.
